Shirakawa-go; A mountainious region long known for its beautiful farmhouses of yesteryears. It is a popular destination for people from South-east Asia due to its history, quaint nature and its wonderful scenery. These beautiful farmohouses were built some 250 years ago during Edo Period (1603-1868), and still have inhabitants using them. This traditional village showcases a typical building style called Zassho-zukuri. Together with Gokayama in Toyama Prefecture, the village was declared as Unesco World Heritage Site.
