Today, we would like to give you a brief rundown of a brief history of Muslim visitors to Japan since the 1870s.  Japan has been working hard to increase the number of Muslims and other visitors to the country for several years now. The Japanese government has ambitiously set the target of 40 million foreign visitors to the country in the year 2020.  Out of these 40 million foreign visitors, at least one million are expected to be Muslims.  This is a huge number for a country which has only recently opened up its doors to foreign tourists.

All this is true and amazing for us, the Muslims already living in the country and the Muslim visitors as well. However, in this blog post, we want to give you a brief rundown of how Muslim life has changed in Japan during the last 150 years. How have Muslim visitors settled themselves in the country ever since the first Muslims came to Japan in the 1970s.
