COVID-19 and beyond: Are you ready to combat it as a Muslim? We have been discussing this all-important issue for the past few days. In our opinion, there are two important things we have to consider in the wake of the recent Coronavirus outbreak.
First, we need to understand whether we are affected by this virus, we have to die anyway. Allah has already decided on which day and time and place we are going to die. There is no question about that. So, what do we fear?
Second, we need to take the utmost precautions in our daily lives to avoid being affected by this virus. We have to listen to the advice given by relevant medical professionals and other authorities in whatever country we are living at the moment. Our number objective should be to avoid it and try to help stop the spread of this disease.
A huge number of scientists around the world have been trying to make a vaccine to combat the virus. We would appeal to Muslim scientists as well to make efforts to do so. Unfortunately, Muslims have not contributed enough in any professional field for the last 400 years. Now, it is the time for us, the Muslims, to wake up to reality and actually do something to benefit humanity.
Let us follow the sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) wholeheartedly and fight this pandemic the way he taught us to. Our duty should be to avoid it at all costs, make efforts to stop the spread of the disease and take practical steps in whatever capacity we can to benefit humanity at large.
