No. Of Foreign Visitors To Japan Reaches Record Numbers

No. of foreign visitors to Japan reaches record high in 2019. However, the increase in the number of visitors to the country was less than expected. Due to deteriorating relations with South Korea, the increase was limited by a shortfall from the country.  The Japanese government has yet to give the regional breakdown and other details of the tourists.

Japan had previously expected the tourists to reach 40 million numbers by the year 2020. However, they may not be able to materialize the target due to the sharp fall of visitors from South Korea.  JTB, one of the largest travel companies in the country estimated that the number of overseas travelers in 2020 maybe around 34.3 million.

We are not yet sure what percentage of travelers were Muslims. The government plans to release the breakdown and other details of the tourism data later this month.  It is expected that the softening of visa restrictions for visitors from China and other Asian countries has helped achieve this record despite the drop in the number of visitors from South Korea.
