“Tokyo Halal Deli and Café” specialized halal food eatery certified by Japan Islamic Trust (JIT) opened at Sophia University Yotsuya Campus in Tokyo. The purpose of this halal restaurant at one of the most famous universities among foreigners is to cater to Muslims students and faculty members. From 2015 during lunch hours “Halal Bento – Lunch Box” was sold on campus and extremely liked by many students and the faculty members.
The decision for the opening of the halal Café was to serve diversity and globalization of Sophia University. It is open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on weekdays, Café follows Halal tradition from designing of its kitchen facility using only certified Halal ingredients. The menu includes Breakfast Plate (200 yen), Curry, Pasta, Tandoori baked Nun Set (500 yen), Deserts and Drinks. Vegetarian Dishes are also available which are high in demand by oversea students as well as Japanese.
Being recognized for its international and multicultural environment, Sophia University is also known as the leading research institution on Islam holding Center for Islamic Studies.
