Kumamoto Islamic Center has always been active in attracting Muslims and non-Muslims alike to promote peace and tranquility among the larger community in Kumamoto Prefecture. There are about 70 Muslim brothers living in the area along with their families.
After the devastating earthquake recently in the region, the Kumamoto Islamic Center has been specifically supporting the relief activities for all people living in the vicinity. Alhamdulillah, Muslim volunteers living in all parts of Japan rushed to the area after the massive earthquake had struck the town of Mashiki in Kumomoto Prefecture and provided all the necessary supplies including food, water and other necessities including shelter. Ordinary Japanese were quite impressed by the level of dedication and support provided by these Muslim volunteers.
