Tokyo Olympics delay is another blow to the virus-hit tourism industry in Japan. As you all know Tokyo Olympics are postponed for a year. The organizers are expected to announce the new dates in three-weeks time. However, the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent postponement of the Olympics have severely hit the domestic tourism industry in Japan.
Hotels in Tokyo and other cities in the country have seen up to 90% of bookings canceled in the past few weeks. The tourism industry as a whole is devastated by this and there does not seem to be a fix at least in the short term. No one knows exactly how long the virus is going to last in Japan and other countries.
Although the Olympics organizers have postponed it for one year, nobody knows whether we will be able to control the covid-19 pandemic by that time.
Most of the hotels as well as restaurants in the country have been facing a heavy toll on their businesses due to the losses. And the halal tourism industry is no exception. They have been consulting government authorities and the Japanese Tourism Agency on how to control the harmful impact of the heavy losses.
