TOKYO – Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd, the largest department store group in Japan, will hold a New Year Festival under the theme, “New Year for Enjoying the Future,” from Friday, January 2 to Tuesday, January 6 in all areas of its three core stores in Tokyo.
The three stores—Isetan Shinjuku Main Store, Mitsukoshi Nihombashi Main Store
and Mitsukoshi Ginza Store—will feature numerous programs befitting this time
of year that will be enjoyable not only for people living in Japan but also
foreign tourists. They include sales of lucky bags filled with items that could
open the door to good luck and fulfilling dreams (a total of 136,000 lucky bags
will be sold at the three stores on January 2), sales of lucky charms and items
related to the yearly zodiac sign, and events characteristic of the New Year.
Customers will be able to experience Japan’s New Year at the Isetan Mitsukoshi
stores in a merry and celebratory fashion.
President and CEO Hiroshi Ohnishi said, “We certainly hope you will spend the
New Year at an Isetan Mitsukoshi store. Each of the stores has prepared products
and events with unique ideas that will enable you to rediscover Japan’s culture.”
