Halal Japan is glad to announce that melon pan being sold at various 7-Eleven stores is considered halal by scholars. You may buy it if you wish to. However, there is a word of caution. The melon pan being offered at 7-Eleven stores in the Kyushu area is not halal as it contains pig-related ingredients. So, the Muslim residents in that region can not consume this bread.
The bread is free from non Halal ingredients. Shortening, Margarine & Fat spread are all plant based, and free from cross-contamination with pig derivatives.
This product is available at 7-Eleven of Chiba-Ken, Saitama-Ken, Tokyo-To, Shizuoka-Ken, Aichi-Ken, Mie-Ken, Gifu-Ken, Shiga-Ken, Okayama-Ken, Hiroshima-Ken, Kyōto, Shikoku, Hokkaido, Hyogo-Ken, and some part of Osaka. Only the Kyushu area uses pig based Margarine.
